Renault F1
Renault F1 is the F1 team of the Renault company. Renault F1 has let its presence be known in the F1 racing world in active competition, as an engine supplier, constructor and as a competitor. Renault F1 is based in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom where the chassis for racing are built. Meanwhile, engines are manufactured at the Renault facility outside Paris. Though Renault had previously been known as a supplier of aspirated engines to other teams like Benetton and Williams, in 2001 Renault F1 finally came into its own as a world champion – winning as a constructor and for a driver in 2005. It has also contributed to 5 driver's world championships and 6 constructor's world championships as an engine supplier.
The History Of Renault Formula 1
wThe Renault F1 team first got involved in F1 racing back in the late 1970's. The first Renault F1 car to compete was the RS01 which carried a Renault-Gordini V6 1.5 L turbocharged engine, the first of its kind. However, this new new Renault F1 proved to be unreliable and was largely viewed as a failure in the F1 racing world. It took Renault the better part of the next year to show some real promise. After expanding to two drivers and introducing the new RS10 car, the team earned a reputation in F1 racing with some memorable race performances. Renault struggled during the 1980's with scattered successes and disappointments, particularly as a result of its various drivers. By 1985 due to financial problems the company pulled Renault out of the F1 competition. It took four years for Renault FI to rejoin the race, at least as an engine supplier. The Williams-Renault collaboration proved to be a success with major wins in 1992. After purchasing Benetton F1 Renault returned to active F1 competition. 2006 saw some controversy when the FIA banned the use of mass damper systems which were pioneered by Renault and also used by other teams. Supposedly McLaren was the team who complained about the unfair advantage. Renault did not perform well in the most recent season, though the company denied it was because of the loss of the mass damper system. The team's future in F1 racing has recently been speculated on, given its new management.
